What are Column Types?

- Text Type:
This column type accommodates various text entries, typically used for storing information such as specification details, notes, names, or any other free text you might include in sheets. - Number Type:
Mainly used for Prices, calculations, and percentages
Another thing that make this column special is the ability to add formulas,
By entering an equal sign (‘=’) in these fields, you can create one!
These formulas can automatically calculate your client’s price, simplify project budget management, and more!
- Dimensions Type:
Dimension column types take numbers and text just like Generic columns.
- List Type:
Some questions in life only have a few correct answers. For those moments in Fohlio, we have list-type columns.
On your Project Sheet, they’ll look like this:

If you click into the field, Fohlio gives you a menu of options. When it comes to Submittal Action for this project, the product can only be Approved, Approved as Noted, Revise & Resubmit, and Rejected. That’s it.
When you create a List type column, you’ll see a menu like this:

Add just the options you want displayed, and you’re off.
You can always go back and change the options that are displayed through Column Settings.
Notes:
-You can add Auto-Highlight and add a certain color to each selection, which this super helpful in case of the Status column, you can add more visual indicators
-Adjusting options on this list will affect all projects, Such as deleting an option will remove that selection across all projects, or re-writing the option will also affect all places this option is selected
- Date Type:
It takes dates! What else is there to say? It looks like this on your Project Sheet:

- Image Type:
If you have pictures of your products, Fohlio saves and displays them.
Click an image like this:

And you’ll get this window:

Upload more photos with the big green icon. Change the names of each photo.
The Yellow Mark means this is the main (Default) image.
You can select another 3 Additional images using the Green mark to be used on the PDF single report and the Table view report.

Document Type:
A Documents field type is a great place to store any files related to your product: PDFs, Word docs, CAD files, DWG files, and so on and so on.
It’ll look like this on your Project Sheet:Click into that field and you’ll get this window:
Need to share documents with your team? Do Need to let them know to look for them? Want to add a note for each document to contextualize it?
Done and done!

Assignee Type:
Is the next step on a product in a specific team member’s hands?
An Assignee column type lets you select who on your team needs to take that step.
When you’re creating the column, decide who can be selected by their user roles:
Remember, you can decide on your user roles by going through your Settings tab on the left.
Based on your need, the column type should cover all expected cases.
The thing to note is that the Column type can't be changed after creation, so make sure to select the correct one.
In general, we recommend using our Default columns provided, which show up when searching for columns, as they cover all needs.
