How to Use Column Properties

Column properties make sure that the right data moves into your library, help duplicate products, and make project calculations easy.

If you're on the Template Column Settings page, you might see this curious character:

Column Properties

In each situation, you're telling Fohlio what to do with the data you put into those columns.

1. Product Info

This column property means the information in it it's the same what ever the project.

Also it means this column

A good example of a Product Info column is the Product name.

My Panasonic 1045F microwave is going to be called a Panasonic 1045F microwave whether it's in my apartment, in the office, or in a field somewhere (maybe because someone threw it there). Here's a digital recreation:

Other examples might be the Product Model number, dimensions, color, images, etc.
Fohlio makes sure these bits of data show up in your Library and auto-populate in new projects when you reuse them.

Note:
This column will show up on the Internal Library as these columns is the same across all project, which means if the items are linked to Internal Library, you can't make changes to those columns from Project sheets

A sign on top of the Column will indicate to the Column property
For Product info it will be a cube

2. Project Management

This information is unique to the Project you're working on, and can be different from one project to another,

So, let's go back to my microwave example from before.

A good example of a bit of data that is Project management is a Quantity column. After all, how many of my Panasonic microwaves I have... well... depends on the project. My field has hundreds of them. But my apartment only needs one.

Other examples include, installation status, client approval, or . In all of these examples the information does change between projects. So, these are Project management fields of data.

3. Cost/Price

These ones are the easiest, they should be used when the value inside them are Currency such as USD, EURO, MXN or even Sterling, mainly for Pricing.

Those column can have the currency added to them, which can affect formulas, Cost analysis, and PO/Client invoice prices if you have exchange enabled.

If you click the menu next to the world "Total" you'll see a menu kinda like this:

Areas that will make the Cost/Price columns available:
- Cost Analysis
- Budget (Area Navigator)
- Formula
