Internal Users vs External Users

Understanding the differences between internal and external users.

There are two ways to work with other people on a Project: Internal Users or External Users.

For most Users:

-Internal Users are people who work in the same firm/company/Fohlio Account. Generally insiders with more access.

-External Users are clients, outside contractors, suppliers, and more. Generally outsiders with less access.

Like most professionals, you have sensitive information that you may not want to share with select stakeholders.

That said, you can absolutely add Clients and Contractors as Internal Users. This will allow you a lot more control over their accesses and permissions, although it will come at an extra charge (see below).

Here are the key differences to consider when deciding to add someone as either an Internal or External user:

  • External Users have very limited access (Project Sheets and Moodboard only).

  • Internal Users can be granted a lot more access.

  • External Users can only be added to one project at a time, while Internal Users are added to all projects.

  • Internal Users' access is much more customizable than Externals'.

  • An Internal User will need a paid account, while an External User won't.
